Employee Spotlight – Viktoriia Martianova

Welcome to a new edition of our employee spotlight series. This time we have interviewed Viktoriia.

Viktoriia please tell us what you do at travel audience?
I am a Data Analyst in the Reporting & Analytics team.

How does this help the travelers?
The Reporting & Analytics team has a significant impact on the entire company. We are responsible for providing other departments with information for decision making processes. Working closely with the Data Engineers, we transform enormous amount of data gathered from multiple sources into dashboards and user-friendly data sources, which our colleagues can use for performing deeper analysis on their own. As a result, it boosts continuous improvement of our internal processes and products so that we can help travelers find relevant offers faster.

Tell us about your background?
Two years ago I moved to Germany to finish my double master’s degree program. By that time, I had already gained a couple of years of professional experience in Business Intelligence development, having worked for a full-stack IT service provider for analytics.

What is your big project at travel audience? Your big challenge?
I have been working on standardization of our corporate BI system and building a manageable, scalable and beautiful analytical solution; I am happy to do it, because this project requires a lot of creativity and you can see the results of your work immediately.

Why did you choose the travel industry?
It drives learning, inspires, transforms curiosity into real experiences, opens up new vistas and connects people around the world.

Why did you choose Berlin?
Because Berlin is extremely diverse, truly international and sometimes simply crazy. The time spent in this city is an unforgettable life changing experience.

What is your favourite travel destination?
Seoul or Jeju – I still can’t choose; they are both so different and I’m in love with both of them! I have been there only once so far, but I will definitely come back later and hopefully will be able to speak some Korean by that time.

What is your travel tip / #travelhack
Try to get to the highest available viewpoint in the area e.g. local TV tower or any skyscraper – there is a good chance that your eye will be caught by something interesting and you’ll add this destination to your route.

What is the best thing about your job?
Amazing colleagues and an inspiring atmosphere. Because of them it doesn’t feel like work – it is more about enjoying quests together with your friends.

What is your hidden talent?
I’ve been composing music from the age of ten!

What have you not told your colleagues?
Salsa is my secret passion 🙂 .
