Employee Spotlight – Diana Doneit
Diana, please tell us what you do at travel audience.
I am responsible for our sales operations teams, this includes Ad Operations, Tech Operations and Support Coordinators.
How does this help the travelers?
My team is responsible to help our advertising clients succeed on our platform. Ultimately, they ensure to show the most relevant offers to a traveler who is in the market at the right time and in the right environment.
Tell us about your background.
I have been working in digital advertising before this job as well. At Facebook I worked over 6 years in various functions for the DACH market – helping advertising clients in several verticals to succeed on Facebook. Travel was one of the verticals my team was focusing on.
What is your big project at travel audience? Your big challenge?
I am here for 2 and a half years. To be honest the challenges change quite frequently, which is something that I enjoy. Something that never changes is my desire to provide quality work to our advertising clients, make them feel valued by the work we do, and help them excel through the performance of our platform.
Why did you choose the travel industry?
Like most people I do like to travel. Beyond this, I think this industry brings some particular challenges along for online advertising. Conversion cycles are comparably long, and many user touchpoints are the norm. Also, often online travel agents compete with their own brick and mortar shops. And thirdly, we are dealing with more and more fragmented media. I think this makes for some puzzles to solve and it will certainly not get boring to work in this industry and to help advertisers find a solution to these puzzles.
Why did you choose Berlin?
Simply because it is an amazing city, very international, with lots of things happening especially in the tech sector. I could write quite a bit here, but let’s just mention summers, open airs, BBQs in the parks and Spätis at every corner mixed with an international crowd who is open to new and different things.
What is your favourite travel destination?
It’s hard to pick one place. I would say Brazil. This country simply blew me away with its diversity in every aspect – people, countryside, food, culture, everything is a large diverse mix and it differs wherever you go in the country.
What is your travel tip / #travelhack?
I always try to book an aisle seat, so I can walk around & stretch my legs. And I never travel without my kindl especially for long trips, you can store a whole library on there without taking up luggage space, I love it!
What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing are the people I work with. It’s a great mix here at ta. I love that so many different backgrounds come together to solve problems as a team.
What is your hidden talent?
I am actually quite good with plants. I have half a jungle at home & love taking care of them. I am also planting a small garden on my patio this spring. I hide it very well though – I just killed my office plant which I only got for Christmas, still no idea why.
What have you not told your colleagues?
I went already on three different occasions deep into the rainforest in South America with my husband (like a day-trip away from civilization). We always stayed a week and toured through it with a ranger, machete on his back and all. This included striding through Amazonas water up until our chest, Piranhas and Anacondas included. When I think about it today, I really wonder what I was thinking, especially that I am afraid of snakes. However, I really love nature & there is nothing better than falling asleep to jungle sounds around you.
